Recombination-enhanced Processes in Solar Cell Degradation*

چکیده
For the purposes of this paper we shall consider any process enhanced by raising carrier densities as recombinat ion enhanced, even where the carrier densities are raised by ionizing radiation, injection or some indirect mechanism. These processes have two special features. (1) Either the processes are athermal or they show only a weak temperature dependence. As a result, processes may occur at low temperatures which cannot be predicted by simple extrapolation from high temperatures. (2) The processes occur during device operation and hardly ever "on the shelf". The rate depends on the excitation rate as well as on the total dose. In a solar cell system, any part may be affected. The ancillary parts such as protective windows and antireflection coatings are also liable to damage. Recombinat ion enhancement is obviously particularly important when high optical densities occur (as with solar concentrators) or other special operating conditions. This paper is an extension of an earlier discussion [1] and in it we consider some general aspects of enhanced processes. The consequences of enhanced processes can be varied: point defect production, dislocation climb,

متن کاملDistributed Reflector Structure and Diffraction Grating Structure in the Solar Cell
Today, due to qualitative growth and scientific advances, energy, especially electricity is increasingly needed by human society. One of the almost endless and pure energy which have been paid attention over the years is the solar energy. Solar cells directly convert solar energy into electrical energy and are one of the main blocks of photovoltaic systems. Significant improvement has been made...
متن کاملRestricted charge recombination process in PbS quantum dot sensitized solar cells by different coating cycles of ZnS films
The relatively low power conversion efficiency (PCE) of quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs) is attributed to charge recombination at the interfaces. Charge recombination process could be suppressed by coating the QD layer with a wide band gap semiconductor such as ZnS, which acts as a blocking layer between the QDs and hole transport material (HTM). In present study, to improve PCE of P...

In this work, we used the Atlas Tcad Silvaco software to investigate the effect of adding an additional BSF layer on the performance of InGap / GaAs dual junction solar cells with a hetero tunnel Al0.7Ga0.3As-In0.49Ga0.51P junction. These analyzes indicate that, the addition of a BSF layer to the bottom cell the increase in the thickness of the BSF top cell would reduce the recombination and in...

Nanostructures of noble metal materials have been used in organic solar cells for enhancement of performance and light trapping. In this study, we have introduced branched silver cauliflower-like nanopatterns as sub-wavelength structured metal grating in organic solar cells. Self-assembled fabrication process of branched nanopatterns was carried out on a bio-template of cicada wing nanonipple a...
